Algarve cities will introduce tourist tax
After Lisbon and Porto, all 16 municipalities in the Algarve want to introduce a city tax as soon as possible. The amount and the survey modalities would still be determined, according to a press release from the regional city council AMAL. The tax should be the same everywhere and contribute to the financing of the cultural and tourism tasks in each city, which raises them.
It is important to use the revenue to reduce the seasonality and promote the quality of the holiday destinations, said the AMAL chairman, Tavira Mayor Jorge Botelho.
