The town of Lagos
has a very long history except to offer a beautiful old town. The city fathers have the traffic-free old town largely rehabilitated, rather than tear down. Many white old streets, squares and pedestrian streets lead visitors to souvenir shops, restaurants, and attractions Botiqen. From there, the Avenida dos Descobrimentos (Avenue of Discoveries) accompanies the river Bensafrim that serves fishing boats and yachts as access to the port. Many, sometimes steep streets of the historic center lead down to the palm-decked promenade. Near the pedestrian bridge leading over the Bensafrim here to the docks, the worth seeing restored Fischhalle is from 1924. On the opposite side of the river the replica of a historic caravel can be visited and used for excursion trips.
